“Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight” – Proverbs 3:5-6.
God doesn’t work in the same way we do.
We set a fairly straight forward goal. Let others know about it, if necessary, and work towards that goal.
God’s ways get us there too, but He accomplishes so much more on the journey.
He’s the ultimate ‘multi-tasker’.
For example, we might pray for a house (and sometimes He gives us a house) but other times…. He grows us, builds our capacity, works on our relationships, develops connections and wisdom, which leads to a promotion and then we buy the house. And to be honest, that’s probably simplifying it so much.
I think that’s why we need the reminder to trust God. If He was like us, trusting Him would be easy.
But His ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:9). He operates on a completely different level.
Eternity is priority.
Infinite are His options and understanding.
And He is good (Psalm 119:68), so we can trust Him.
