God’s word is power.
Paul says its the Holy Spirit’s Sword (Ephesians 6:17).
So when we ‘hide’ God’s word in our hearts (Psalm 119:11), Holy Spirit can, at the right time, use one of those words, to destroy wrong thinking in our lives, to attack the corrupt ideas of our culture that are sometimes so persuasive, to go to war against the enemies lies.
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” – 2 Corinthians 10:3-5.
Jesus used the words of God when He was tempted in the desert. Three times he said ….. “It is written”….and the battle was won (Matthew 4:1-11).
